Esta tarde se decretó una cuarentena radical en , según el primer ministro italiano Giuseppe Conte.

El país es el más afectado de Europa con más de 7.300 pacientes con y 463 muertes, ha confinado gran parte del norte del país para evitar que el virus se propague más.

Con la mayor parte del norte cerrada se ha afectado a casi 16 millones de personas con las restricciones de viaje.

Si bien el bloqueo solo se aplica al norte de Italia, otras medidas se aplicarán a todo el país. Entre las acciones a implementar desde hoy figura la suspensión de escuelas, clases universitarias, teatros y cines, así como bares, discotecas y eventos deportivos. Las ceremonias religiosas, incluidos los funerales, también se suspenderán. Las clases se retomarían el próximo 3 de abril.
